World University Championships: Ruairi and Rosalind competing

The biannual World University Championships are taking place in sunny Spain, with the event centre based in Alicante. There will be 2 athletes in the Irish team, Ruairi Short and Rosalind Hussey. They will be well looked after by Kieran Rocks, the team manager.

The program is:
Tuesday (am/pm) – long distance – Tibi
Wednesday (pm) – sprint distance – Alicante
Thursday (am) – middle distance – Santa Pola

Only Ruairi is taking part in the long distance. With 9.9 km and an estimated winning time of 80 minutes, it will be a tough test. The terrain is described as hilly, with pronounced slopes and increasing difficulty. The area is crossed by a number of impassable ravines.
