JHI 2017 Team Announced
This year the Ward Junior Home International will be held in Wales on the weekend 07/08 October.
The selectors have spent a considerable amount of time looking at results and discussing the performances of all individuals. The competition for the twenty-four spaces on the squad has been very strong and shows the increasing strength of the entire Irish Junior Squad. There have been several close and tough decisions made.
As a reminder to those wishing to be selected for ANY of the races JHI/ JWOC/ EYOC, we recommend that you run the Elite courses if applicable to your age. This makes it easier for us to compare runs. The selection races will be announced near to the end of 2017, as will the date for the Time Trial. Please let me know ASAP if there are reasons for you not to attend the time trials or selection races.
I would like to wish those selected, the VERY best of luck, and I’m looking forward to a great weekends orienteering.
To those not selected- keep going, eyes up, catch those features, enjoy your orienteering, your time will come. Promise.

Final Selection Race for JHI’s Chosen
Hi All,
With the JHI’s in early Autumn in Wales, we are hoping to have some training in September.
The weekend of the 9th/ 10th September 2017.
The idea is to participate in the event on the Saturday in Gortalunghay, Florencecourt, Co Fermanagh.
JHI Selection
We are aware that there was no new selection policy at the beginning of the year specifically in relation to the JHI’s, therefore we are going on the usual races run.
The Selection will be announced directly after this event.
We plan on running training if there are sufficient numbers around on the Sunday.
We have tried –unsuccessfully to date– to secure accommodation for a reasonable cost. Therefore understand should people NOT wish to stay.
If, however you do plan on staying please can you indicate this to me so that the appropriate training can be arranged.
Any Questions, let me know.
I am trying to build up a database of contact emails, therefore please let as many people as possible know, and ask them to contact me to be included on the email database. I won’t pass them on to anyone else- promise!
Below is my map from Croesco 2012, where the JHI’s are being run.
We plan to hold a final training event for 2017 in Waterford in October / November. Similar to that run by Neil Dobbs earlier this year, so practice those hills!
