Accommodation is best secured early, and some is recommended on the website.

Some of us are staying here in Cannock itself.

The JK is a fantastic event for families and those interested in exploring wonderful areas of countryside without having to travel too far.

We will be, as usual, entering Junior Relay teams for the Monday.

Happy Running

Summer Tour 2018

After a great trip to France in 2016, the Irish Junior Squad are planning a training and competition trip to the Jura mountains in France in 2018. We have booked a number of gites/ski lodges with camping nearby in Plan d’Hotonnes on the edge of one of the competition areas of the OOCup 2018.

We are hoping to go for 11 days from Saturday 21st July to Wednesday 1st August. The competition runs from Wednesday 25th to Sunday 29th (5 days) and we hope to do 3 days training before and 3 days training afterwards as the OOCup is in fantastic terrain that the juniors will learn so much from. Toni will co-ordinate the training and it looks like we will some excellent orienteerers to help with coaching.

The accommodation should be suitable for families and for juniors who are travelling alone but we need to keep an eye on the number of cars to ensure that juniors travelling on their own can be catered for. As with 2016 we will organise catering for the group and the juniors/adults will be expected to help with this.

The Irish Junior Squad has some funds and we will be busy fundraising for this and other trips over the next few months to ensure that we can subsidise any juniors who would like to attend so if you have any fundraising ideas then please let me know.

The last French Training we held, with Toni and Ruth as trainers, was exceptionally well attended and VERY valuable to those who went. Spaces will fill up fast, so email your interest ASAP.
