Return to Orienteering, 18th May

Sport Ireland has informed the IOA that orienteering is considered as an outdoor pursuit which meets the roadmap definition for return to sport in phase 1 due to commence on May 18th. This is a small step but good news, it requires us to adhere strictly to public health advice including social distancing and the 5km limits. It is in everyone’s interest that we stick to the guidelines and ensure that we reduce the risk involved.
A small team of the IOA executive is currently working on guidelines for clubs and orienteers. This is to ensure that we have a successful return to orienteering and do not jeopardise a reduction in restrictions. We will be in touch shortly with advice to the clubs. If you have suggestions or would like more information please do not hesitate to contact us on osec@orienteering.ie.
