Ballinascorney Night Orienteering

The 2nd Dublin by Night Orienteering Event, hosted by Setanta Orienteers, will be held in Ballinascorney Forest on Sat 24th Jan at 6pm.

Click for Pre-Entry is not compulsory, you can still register for the event on the night. You can also pre-enter even if you are not sure you can make the event.
Pay on night. Pre-entry will close at 7pm on Friday 23rd January.

Start times from 6pm-7pm and courses close at 8.30pm sharp.

There will be 2 courses, approximate distances,
Long 4.2km with 165m climb
Short 2.9km with 90m climb.

Start/Finish/Registration area O 062 912 is located at the North Western end of Ballinascorney Forest.

Parking will be along the roadside beside the forest entrance.

It will be signposted only from Bohernabreena junction on the R114.

Directions from the M50, exit at Junction 12, Ballycullen and proceed in the direction of Oldbawn and Tallaght. Drive past 2 roundabouts and at the next crossroads turn left onto the R114 heading towards Bohernabreena. Stay on the R114, passing the Stone Cross (don’t turn left here!) and continue along for about another 1.6km and park along the roadside just before the forest entrance.

The terrain will be mostly forest and felled forest with some unmarked cycle tracks and machinery tracks. It is quite muddy in places.
There is one particular cycle track, under construction, with very high ramps that should be avoided for safety reasons. This is marked on the map.

For insurance reasons this event is for M/W16 and over only.
