Orienteering Photography Competition

We would like to increase our supply of Irish Orienteering photos for use in general publicity, social media and on websites. Orienteering Ireland is running a photo competition with a closing date of Friday 20th December, 2024.

Prize categories* are as follows:

· “Sport for life” first prize €100 / Second prize €50 / Third prize €25

· “Adventure” first prize €100 / Second prize €50 / Third prize €25

· “Behind the scenes” first prize €100 / Second prize €50 / Third prize €25

Prizes are All4one vouchers worth the amount stated above are awarded.

Anyone can enter as many times as they want. The photos/videos are to be of Irish Orienteering anywhere showing any aspect of the sport, and must give a good image of the sport for use in printed matter and/or websites. Photos/video must be submitted in digital format. The submitted media will be stored in an online library for use by OI with the photo attributed to the owner. Entries will be published on the web as they are received. Please send entries to info@orienteering.ie by email or share to google drive.

Entries must include the photo owner’s name, which may be published, and a contact point (email, phone or address) which will not be published. Wherever possible a description of the photo would be appreciated (date, venue, orienteer’s name, club, course, etc.)

Rules are as follows:

· The competition is open to orienteers and non-orienteers alike.

· Entrants can enter as many times as they wish with non-duplicate photographs or may include multiple entries in one submission.

· Entries will be accepted any time up to midnight on Sunday 15th December 2024.

· Photos must be taken less than 1 year old (taken on or after September 1st 2023)

· Entries to be sent to info@orienteering.ie

· Each entry must include photographer’s name and email as well as the entry category.

· Each entrant must request permission from the person/s in the photo/video that they are happy for the photo to be entered into the competition.

· Name of entrant will be published.

· Where possible each entry should also include background information on the photograph (date, venue, orienteer’s name, club, course, etc)

· Photos must be of Irish orienteer(s), in any location. This can include orienteers or helpers at an orienteering activity at Irish locations, or Irish orienteers competing outside of Ireland.

· Photos can be entered by anyone, once the original photographer (or photograph owner) is in agreement with the rules outlined here.

· Photos entered may be used by the OI (on a non-commercial basis) for publicity/websites, printed material etc, and credit will be attributed where possible, although the OI cannot be held responsible for publication by third parties of photographs without accreditation.

· Categories are as follows: Sport for life, Adventure, Behind the Scenes (These categories are open to the individuals interpretation)1d

· Prizes will be awarded €100 for 1st, €50 for 2nd, and €25 for 3rd in each category.

· Judging will be by an independent panel of orienteers.

· The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
