JWOC Friday update
The last day of JWOC part 1 promised to be spectacular. The men’s relay started first with Eoghan, Darragh and Liam. Followed an hour later by the girls with Aoife, Cliodhna and Netta (Israel). This was a mixed Irish/Israeli team.
Temperatures were again in their mid to high 30s. Humidity at 10%. The course for both were equally long with 4.3km and 110m climb.
About 40% through the race, the runners came through the arena passage and you could see they were fighting hard. Whoever could handle the heat today was in for a great race. Eoghan and Darragh, having been sick the past few days, were happy to be back in action, although unfortunately not to their usual standard. Liam had a great race in the hottest part of the race. They all showed great team spirit.
The girls equally gave it their all, with even tougher conditions, starting over an hour later than the men’s race and enduring quarantine for the entire pre race period. Netta was our anchor and did an awesome job to bring it all home.
Saturday will see the team doing some more sprint training before relaxing for the afternoon and packing. We will join all teams then for the world famous JWOC party before making our way home on Sunday morning.
