JWOC 2015 – Solid Middle Distances

After mixed results in the Middle Qualification, Róisín Long and Niamh Corbett both qualified for the B-final, both coming close to the A-final, with the other Irish athletes entering the C-final, some also narrowly missing the B-final.

In yesterday’s middle final though the races improved for many of the Irish runners, Róisín Long in particular placing well to come 20th in the B-final – a very promising result. She was followed by Niamh Corbett, who finished 35th in the B-final.

Those who made the C-final all had much improved races, with Jonathan Quinn winning his final, and Aoife McCavana coming 2nd in the Women’s C-final.
Clíona McCullough also finished 6th in the C-final, and Niall McCarthy & Paul Pruzina finished 11th and 15th respectively.

Tomorrow the long distance gets under way, Jonathan Quinn is Ireland’s first starter at 09:04 local time (08:04 Irish time).
