Wanted~ Irish University Orienteering Teams 2020
In 2020 The European University Orienteering Championships is being combined into the European University Games in Belgrade in July. There will be about 5000 students taking part we would like to send a team and feel it would be great experience.
The World Unis are taking place in Russia also in July, the two events are summarised below. Full details on their websites.
If you are interested in competing please let Mike Long know (mike.long@ucd.ie) , there is no obligation at this stage, we just need to get a handle on numbers and interest. Please note the EUOC entries need to be made through individual University Sports offices.
The preliminary entry deadline for both of the events is 15th January, so please make contact asap.
WUOC (World University Orienteering Championships)
Venue: Smolensk, Russia
Dates: 11-19 July (Note WOC ends on 11 July)
Format: 5 races each

National teams: 17 – 25 yr old students or 1 year out. (Student Sports Ireland have very high standards. -Currently SSI are suggesting qualification criteria of 1st 4 on W/M21E in Irish Champs but this is to be discussed.)
EUOC (European University Orienteering Championships)

Dates: July 21-25
Format: 3 races
