Ireland 2013 EYOC Team

Portugal weather

Some of Ireland’s top junior orienteers set off earlier today to just north of Lisbon, Portugal, where they will compete in the 2013 European Youth Orienteering Championships. The competition consists of 4 classes, W16, M16, W18 and M18, and Ireland have sent a team with runners in each class. Today they arrived and will get settled in a few days early with training on the cards ahead of the races which start on Friday morning.

The programme consists of:
Friday: Sprint
Saturday: Long Distance
Sunday: Relay

The team of juniors representing Ireland:
W16: Caoimhe O’Boyle (CNOC)
M16: Peter Meehan (NWOC), Paul Pruzina (LVO)
W18: Niamh Corbett (CorkO), Roisin Long (AJAX), Aoife McCavana (GEN)
M18: Niall McCarthy (BOC), Jonathan Quinn (GEN)

You can follow all the action over the next few days here: http://www.eyoc2013.fpo.pt/

Looks like they’ll  have the opportunity to enjoy the sun after their training and races with their accommodation almost touching the beach, as pictured above!

Good luck team!
