Round 11 of the 2018 Leinster League is in Deer Park Forest, Virginia, Co. Cavan, this coming Sunday, 18th November .

Take the M/N3 to Virginia, then take the R194 towards Ballyjamesduff, the left fork at the west end of the main street. Past the turn to the rugby club and after crossing a narrow bridge take the R195, left, towards Oldcastle.  After about 1K take the left turn into the forest. Parking is on a forest road. Drive slowly, watch out for runners crossing, and park as directed. All vehicles should be parked by 12.30pm, and there will be no exit prior to that time.

Grid Reference N 579 877, Latitude = 53.83580 (north) Longitude = -7.11916 (west)

The regular 7 league courses will be available, as follows:

Course

Length

Climb

Brown

 8.4km

190 m

Blue

 6.3km

150 m

Green

 4.2km

95 m

Red

 4.5km

100 m

Light Green

 3.5km

55 m

Orange

 3.3km

45 m

Yellow

 2.1km

30 m

Note the Brown and Blue courses will have a \'map exchange\'. The 2nd part of the course is printed on the reverse side.

The terrain is all mixed forest with coniferous and deciduous trees, both mature and newer growth. Although the planning has tried to avoid the worst undergrowth there are sections with brambles so gaiters are recommended, particularly for the Brown, Blue, Green, and Light Green courses.

The map scale is 1:7500 with 5M contours. The maps are printed on A4 waterproof paper.

Note courses will close at 2.30 PM Sharp(to facilitate the Fingal members end of year lunch)

Registration will be from 11.00 until 1.00 PM. Entry fees are €8 for adults, €5 for juniors, students, and OAPs. €20 for families of 2 adults and children under 18. The charge is per map so if juniors go together sharing a map they only need to pay one entry fee.

SportIdent SI timing will be used. SI cards may be hired for €2 if you don\'t have one. Don\'t forget to download when finished and return any rented SI card.

Teas and coffees and a cake sale will be available at the finish. Donations(not obligatory) will be accepted to support the Irish junior squad. We ask that you please be generous. Please also note, that Fingal are now endeavouring to go ECO friendly. We ask that, if possible, to bring your own reuseable cup.

As controller for LL11 in Deerpark, Virginia Co Cavan, I have decided that the river crossing on the Brown and Blue course was unfair, (Brown leg 7-8, Blue leg 14-15). The intention of the planner, with my agreement, was for competitors to cross the river. Some competitors interpreted the map to indicate that the river is uncrossable so crossed at the bridge instead. The map does not indicate the river to be uncrossable, but the legend does describe the river to be so. As this discrepancy lead to confusion I have cancelled the appropriate leg from both courses.

The corrected results have been uploaded to Orienteering.ie. If you have uploaded your gpx to routegadget, please upload again as your previous effort has been overwritten.

Belated thanks to Val, Ciaran & the FIN crew. Biggest complaint was that the sun was in my eyes....!! It\'s a lovely forest, a real privilege to run around it.
