The Grand Finale of Fingal Orienteers\' September Scatter Series takes place this Sunday (30th September) in Malahide Castle Demense, Malahide, Co. Dublin. The event was planned by Sarah Ní Ruairc and controlled by Dave Richardson.
Competitors should access the Demense via the entrance on the Back Road (yes, that\'s the road\'s official name). Registration, start and finish are adjacent to the car park. Anyone travelling to the event by public transport should get the 42 bus from the city centre, alight near the Back Road/Malahide Road junction and walk the rest of the way. Competitors travelling by DART or train will pass through the competition area as they make their way to registration from the station.
In traditional Scatter Series fashion, there will be a mass start at 12:00noon. Competitors have a choice of three courses: Short Course - any 8 controls of 20; Medium Course - any 12 controls of 20; Long Course - any 18 controls of 20.
Registration will open at 11:00.
Controls will be the old-fashioned flag on a bamboo type, and competitors will have to use punches rather than SI, so no need to bring your SI card!
As this is the last event of the series, there are prizes up for grabs, and we hope to have the prize-giving as soon as possible after the last competitor has finished, so hopefully around 13:00. Any resemblance between the prizes and those presented at IOC 2018 is purely coincidental.
An up-to-date League table following the previous three events is available here: http://fingal.orienteering.ie/ScatterLeague2018.html.
See you all on Sunday!
