Please note that the road from Ballyboden to Rockbrook (R116) is closed just south (uphill) of the Merry Ploughboy pub so you can’t come this way to the event.
Instead, from Ballyboden, either:
take the R115 past Hellfire Wood as far as the Killakee viewing point and take a left along Cruagh Road (L8124) to the forest, or
take the R115 towards Hellfire Wood but go left onto Mount Venus Road (L4026), over to Rockbrook and then turn right on the R116 to the forest, or
take the Tibradden Road (L4027) from near the SW corner of Marlay Park, and turn left onto the R116 at the hairpin bend south of the Merry Ploughboy pub, and continue uphill to the forest.
The closest Dublin Bus service is the 15B from Barrow Street, Ringsend as far as Stocking Avenue (Stop 6341). The 15B runs every 30 minutes on Sundays. You still have a walk of about 5 km from the bus to the forest.
Details of the Edmondstown Road closure are here:
and here is the reason it was closed:
(The road closure will only affect you if you are coming from the M50 or the city; if you’re coming from the Kilternan/ Glencullen direction, or from the Sally Gap/Glencree direction, then the road closure won’t affect you)
Many thanks to 3ROC for the use of the map and to AJAX, GEN and 3ROC for the loan in equipment
