The CNOC Summer Series winds up next Tuesday 14th June with an event plus Barbecue in Hollywood, Co. Wicklow.

Please enter online on the Irish Orienteering website at https://www.orienteering.ie/fixtures/hollywood-forest/

There will also be limited entry on the evening, depending on availability of maps.  If you plan to bring a group please let us know in advance by emailing curraghnaaso@outlook.com.

Directions: from the N81, 10 km south of Blessington turn east at Daly's Emo garage on the Wicklow Gap road.  After 700m turn left on the small road leading past the 2 pubs towards the forest.  Parking is along the roads outside the pubs and in the village.  Please park considerately.

Start times 1800 to 1930, followed by Barbecue at Tutty's pub.
Registration and Download will be outside the pub.
Start and Finish will be at the forest entrance, 400m up the road from Registration.  Please don't forget to download!

Map: Scale 1:7500.  Control descriptions will be printed on the maps, and loose descriptions will be available at the Start.
THere will be 2 courses:
Score - collect as many controls as you can in 50 minutes, with a penalty for every minute over 50.
Adventure - 3 km, all on paths or tracks but not suitable for buggies.
Planner Ruth Lynam, Organiser Don Short.

Entry fees:
Adults €8, Children €4, Student €5, Unwaged €5, OAP €5.
Family discount €20 (for up to 2 adults and max 5 family members).

SportIdent: the controls will be SIAC enabled, with punching Start and Finish.
SI cards will be available for rent, cost €2 per card.  Lost card replkacement cost is €40.

Dogs if brought must be kept on a leash.

The map has been updated in May 2022.  In the 4 years since the last update many areas have been felled, but the more mature forest has opened up considerably.
There have been recent thinning works in the forest.  Most extraction tracks are not shown on the map.  Brashings may impede running in some areas mapped as runnable forest.

Preliminary results for Hollywood are up https://www.orienteering.ie/result2/?oaction=moreResult&id=22516. I'm still working on splitsbrowser and routegadget.
Thanks to everyone who came out, we even managed some sun for the barbecue.
Apologies to all on the Adventure course, some anti-social visitors to the forest stole or hid 3 of the controls on their course (one was retrieved).  And thanks to the many people who helped searching for the lost controls.
Thanks also to the CNOC team for all their help with the barbecue and the final event of the summer series.
