Hi all,

The next Summer Series event takes place this coming Tuesday evening, 17th May

Parking at the Defense Forces Sports Club, short walk to the start/finish (5 min). Link to Parking/Registration is here: https://goo.gl/maps/nnqr7PiaWfujSJpi8

There will be three courses on offer:

• Adventure: 1.9km, 9 controls, 10m climb, 1:5000 scale on A4 paper
• Medium: 4.6km, 12 controls, 75m climb, 1:10000 scale on A4 paper
• Long: 7.5km, 17 controls, 130m climb, 1:10000 scale on A4 paper

Starts from 6pm-7:20pm (sharp) - Courses close at 8:30pm

SIAC will be enabled - punching start and finish.

The adventure course is contained within the grassy area next to the R413 - there is no need to cross any busy roads. Suitable for off-road style buggies (mostly on grass).

The medium and long will both cross the R413 road (twice)  through the Curragh, close to Donnellys Hollow/Athgarvan - care should be taken, as although traffic volumes will be low and visibility is good, there will be a chance of meeting some vehicles. We may setup an optional crossing point if conditions warrant it.

Dogs welcome, but must be kept on a leash and controlled - the Curragh is full of sheep and lambs, and loose dogs have been shot in the past

Yes, we have a few extra printed for entries on the day - we had to go to print on Monday (and will do most weeks) as people are too busy on Tuesdays.

One other note for tonight - on the Medium course, there will be a "highly recommended" crossing point over the main road close to Donnellys hollow - this is mainly to ensure that the younger medium competitors are crossing the road in a safe manner. Along most of that stretch of road, its flat and open, with good visability for motorists and pedestrians both ways, but theres just a slight bend/crest at the Athgarven end which I want to make sure isnt an issue.

So - you wont "have" to use the crossing point, but I've placed it at the most logical point to cross anyways, so theres no disadvantage to doing so. Its also usable on the long, it shouldnt be far out of your way - but you are welcome to cross the road carefully at any point.

SIAC will be enabled, loose descriptions at registration.

Long course, four routes up, short Leg 3 to 4,  all different!

As for the long leg, it looks like either way were practically the same. As planner, did you feel one way was better?
