Notes

This event is a 'Come and Try It' event which means it's perfect for novice navigators and juniors (as a general rule under 10/novice juniors accompanied, over 12 with some experience alone). The short course stays entirely in Ringsend Park so crosses no roads, while the Long course goes into neighbouring housing estates (quiet suburban roads only). For experienced orienteers there is some technical, detailed navigation on the Long course.

Courses
Short 2km easy navigation, stays within Ringsend Park
Long 4.5km more technical, detailed navigation, goes into neighbouring housing estate.

Parking
is on Cambridge Road bordering the North West of the park.

Ringsend Park is also accessible on public transport - DART (Lansdowne Road), buses 47, C1 and C2.

Registration/Checkin
Registration/Start/Finish are a short walk into the park through the Cambridge Road pedestrian entrance at the North West end of the park. Once you enter the park turn to your left and walk West-NorthWest about 100m. Please enter online before bank holiday Monday evening ('Enter Now' above).

Start Times
Once you've entered online (on this page) you can arrive and start any time between 6-7pm. People walking around the short course should take up to about 45 minutes and allow yourself a few minutes to find the Registration/Start and get yourself ready.

Courses Close
The flags will be taken in at 7:45pm - if you think you'll be much slower than an hour please start earlier to allow for that.

Notes
The park is a shared space with other recreational users. Please give right of way and be considerate of others.

Technical Details
Map is 1:4,000 scale on A4 paper. Long Course has a 'map flip' (ie turn your map over about half way through). SportIdent is in use but not SI Air enabled. Control flags and SI Units will be wired for security - the wire to be used is narrow gauge but please be extra careful punching that your SI card is read and beeps.
