Summary Largely runnable forest with a good network of paths and tracks, steep in places with some exposed open mountain. Feels like real forest and mountain terrain despite being close to the city. Parking may be in short supply as it is a popular area for walkers in the post-Covid lockdown era so come early and/or car share to get a space. Public transport to the area is very poor.
Notes

Pine Forest (Cruagh and Tibradden). Pre-entry until 12th September at the early-bird reduced rate. Full-price entry on the day.

Parking in the forest and on forest roads in Tibradden Wood.

Thanks to Coillte for permission to run the event and to ZipIt for permission to use their toilets.

Event details are on the Orienteering Forum here.

All online pre-entries will be included in a draw for a €50 ZipIt voucher.

The longer courses will cross the Pine Forest Road (towards Glencullen). The road itself is out of bounds and courses have been designed so as they cross at one location only. Please be careful crossing this road on the course and again after you finish. Don't forget to download, even if you didn't finish your course.

Safety: The upper parts of the Cruagh side of the map are exposed open mountain. You may be required to carry a whistle and wear a suitable weatherproof top on the day, depending on weather conditions. Courses will close at 3 pm so please return by this time.

There will be one start for everyone, and two finishes. The finish for the longer courses is about 1.5 km from assembly/download so it may be difficult to accommodate parents requiring split start times.

Difficulty rating 5/10 Paths through mostly runnable forest with some rough parts
