Notes |
This is an urban event which comprises hard surface running. There will, however, be some areas of grass running. There will be 3 courses available. The Long course is 7km(26 controls), Medium 4.6km(19 controls) and Short course 2.5km(12 controls. Map Scale is 1:4000 with 2.5m contours. Map print will be A3 for the Long, A4 for Medium and Short. The long course will be restricted to over 16 years of age. Anyone under 16 on the medium course, should be accompanied by a responsible adult. Courses will close at 2pm. The Start, Finish and Parking will be at Meath Enterprise Centre, C15 NW29, just off the Trim Road, out of Navan(R161) The Short course will have control descriptions in English. The Long and Medium courses will have pictorial descriptions on the map. There will also be loose control descriptions available and in case of the Medium these will be available in both pictorial or English. The Short will not cross any main roads but will use residential estates. The long course will visit the town centre, which will cross some busy roads, so care should be taken. There will be pedestrian crossing points marked on the map. These will not be compulsory, only suggestive. Navan can be a very busy town, so please take care and avoid any jaywalking. Please also respect other people who will be about, and especially traffic. It should also be noted that this event is being run in conjunction with the Fingal Orienteers annual Christmas dinner, so no teas, coffees, water etc., will be on hand. Runners should allow for this and bring their own. Toilet facilities are available at The Circle K garage on the Trim road C15 DC8W, and the Riverside Filling Station(Maxol) on the Dublin Road, C15TCK3. For those on the Long course, toilet facilities, mid course can be found in Navan Shopping Centre. The location will be marked on the map. Finally, we are indebted to Meath Enterprise Centre, for the use of their grounds. We would be grateful if everyone respects this and bring any rubbish they may have with them when they leave. |
