Summary The Killruddery Estate is a mixture of mature forest interspersed among working farmland. The map has only had basic survey carried out so is perfect for beginners but will not challenge experienced orienteers. The mature forest is mostly runnable but with considerable bramble and undergrowth which has not been accurately mapped. Stick to paths. Courses will stay in the forest to the West of Killruddery House and will not go into the ornate gardens.
Notes

Please note the map survey has not been completed to the detailed level of competition orienteering, so while the area is great for beginners it will not challenge experienced orienteers. The map covers tracks, roads and some point features. As a result navigation will be nearly all along paths and may involve covering the same ground twice ("dog legs"). Areas marked as white (runnabe forest) may contain significant unmapped undergrowth. For this reason only a Medium and Short course are being offered:

Medium course; ca 4.5km
Short course; ca 2.5km

Please note that neither course is buggy friendly. Each course involves muddy forest tracks.

Also note that this is a working farm and adventure course (https://killruddery.com/ and https://www.aliveoutside.ie/). Please do not climb on any fences, gates or other equipment.

Getting there:
Enter Killruddery by main gate near the East end of the R768. Drive carefully along the driveway until you see a sign to turn left into the car park. Instead continue straight on towards the overflow car park and look for the gated access to Killruddery farm. A marshall will let you in. Continue carefully on the farm road for 400m until you arrive to a large open area. Parking is just in front of you, please follow marshalls directions.

Dogs are permitted but only if on a leash at all times. If you must bring a dog please don't let it off its leash once out of view - there are sheep and cattle in adjacent fields and pheasants in the forest.

With thanks to Killruddery Estate and Alive Outside.

Difficulty rating 3/10 Paths/parkland with some off-path (forest/deep grass)
