| Summary | Garretstown woods is a nice mix of marked walking trails, firebreak roads, more obscure trails and a good variety in fun and exciting Orienteering terrain. The wood covers an area of 200 hectares and is steeped in history. The northern section of the wood is on elevated ground overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. On the southern end of the wood there is a spring well known as the 'The Spa Bathing Bath' or 'Chalybeate Waters'. The map of this area has been recently updated and is well worth a visit. The fine sandy beach close by at Garretstown is an excellent location for a post run recovery dip. DIRECTIONS AND PARKING From Cork city head to Kinsale and continue through the town and follow the R600 signed Ballinspittle. Continue through the village of Ballinspittle and take the R604 towards Garretstown. Parking will be approximately 300m after the R600/R604 junction at Courcey Rovers GAA club and Community Centre grounds which is just across the road from the eastern entrance to Garretstown woods.
