CANCELLED as Coillte has refused to issue an orienteering permit to us for 21st September.

A pity, as the area is one of our best, if not the best, for orienteering.

The area was first mapped in 1979 by Col. Berty Kelly of Southern Orienteers and a number of Munster League events were held there in the 1980's.

Part of the Villiers-Stuart estate which had over 40,000 acres of mature oaks and beeches.
Dromana Gate Lodge is 3 km north of Dromana Wood and is a single-storey
Hindu Gothi-style built in 1849 to celebrate the marriage of Henry Villiers-Stuart (it is the only example of this type of architecture in Ireland)
