Summary Forest with a good path network, one section on a rocky slope provides significant navigational challenges but this will be visited only by the more difficult courses. The area was used for the Irish Championships in May 2023.
Notes

There is forestry work going on at the moment but this should not have a big impact on courses as long as it doesn't spread further. The parking field we had hoped to use is too wet so we will be parking on the forest roads - please park as instructed. The flatter parts of forest are wet underfoot and some of small paths are under a few cm of water.

Please pre-enter if possible - and avail of the early-bird entry fees; there will be entry on the day at a higher fee. Online entries close on Thursday 4th April.

Competitors are advised to bring a whistle in case of emergency. We expect to have toilets at assembly. The start is about 600 metres from registration, through quite rough, recently thinned forest, so allow 15-20 minutes to walk there.

Indicative course details (length and climb to be confirmed):

Brown 7.4 km/175m climb

Blue 5.5 km/165m

Green 3.8 km/110m

Short Green 2.5 km/95m

Light Green 3.6 km/60m

Red 3.3 km/60m

Orange 2.6 km/30m

Yellow 2'1 km/30m

The Brown, Blue and Green courses will use the steep rocky forest on the east-facing slope. There will be some sections of taped routes to follow on the Yellow course.

None of the courses are really buggy-friendly and the route to the start is through recently-thinned forest with a lot of debris on the ground. The last part of the Yellow course follows the forest road on which cars will be parked so, drivers, please watch for children on the road and, children and Yellow course participants, please watch out for cars and be careful.

Orienteering is an adventure sport and involves crossing rough terrain and uneven surfaces. You take part in this activity at your own risk.

The area surrounding the Tiglin Centre is out of bounds to orienteers.
