Summary A new map with significant areas young oak forest and mature runnable commercial forest.
Notes

Terrain Notes:

The terrain presents a diverse mix of forest types: young, runnable oak forest; mature commercial spruce plantation; and recently clearfelled areas.

Oak Glen: Planted in the late 1990s to commemorate the new millennium, the area has oak matured into beautiful broad leaf forest with sections of fast-running as well as areas many boulders, ditches and drains. The area was originally enclosed by 2-metre deer fencing. While much of this is now in disrepair with significant sections down or missing, all mapped impassable fences (symbol 518) have been surveyed as accurately as possible. Shorter impassable fence sections (under 10m) are not mapped. Be aware that small breaks in the fence may be marked on the ground with red and white tape. The ruined fence symbol (517) has not been used.

Clearfelled Areas: Two areas of recent clearfelling are present and mapped as Rough Open (symbol 403). One of these areas contains significant linear piles of brashings, which are largely impassable and mapped as Vegetation Fight (symbol 410).

Mature Spruce Plantation: Located in the west of the terrain, the mature spruce plantation has been recently thinned, with forestry work concluding just a week ago. Note that many recent extraction rides within this area are not mapped.

A variety of walls are present: these have been mapped as stone wall (symbol 513), ruined wall (symbol 514), and as earth wall (symbol 105.1). Be aware that some stone walls may present as a standard 1m wall on the uphill side but transition to a stony slope (2m+) on the downhill side. Take care as these slopes may contain loose rock.

General Hazards: Runners must exercise caution throughout the forest due to the presence of broken strands of wire.
