Congratulations to all the athletes that have been selected, I feel the selectors have given us a good pair of teams for both events, where we have opportunities to do well in both.
In specific regards to the M18 class in EYOC and JWOC, the selectors had an additional note:
“The focus of the M18 selection has been to pick a strong group who will be competitive both individually and as a team and whose focus should be on EYOC. Some of the athletes may be disappointed not to be also selected for JWOC but the selectors feel that their focus for this year should be on EYOC and then they can build on this experience for later competition at JWOC.”
Once again: huge thanks to the selectors (Ruth Lynam, Mike Long, Steph Pruzina and Darren Burke) who work behind the scenes each year to keep an eye on the juniors but stay distant enough to be able to make the sometimes hard decisions that are required to make teams. They have a huge collective experience around these kinds of events, and we should all be hugely grateful to them for the work they do.
