Has anyone successfully sent a SIAC to the UK by post for battery replacement? I posted one a few weeks ago and it has just been returned to me by An Post as it was being sent outside the EU and therefore apparently needs a CN23 customs declaration form and an AED Advanced Electronic Declaration.

I have tried to find out about these via the An Post website (they suggest anpost.com/clickandpost) but this just brings me around in circles.

My solution was to post the SIAC to Belfast (the same cost as local post) in an outer envelope and have someone send the inner envelope on from there to Sportident UK, so no customs documentation was required. Just waiting now to see how the return journey goes ...

Finally, An Post are going to deliver my SIAC to me, but only if I pay €4.67 VAT and a service charge of €4.95. The moral of the story is, don't send your SIAC to SportIdent UK, send it to a SportIdent agent in the EU. SportIdent in Germany charge €11 plus VAT and postage; in France €13.20 including VAT but not postage, in Austria €20.50 all in, Spain €14.

Total cost of UK battery change about €29 plus postage to the UK and a lot of form-filling.

It was suggested to me today that, if you mark the package "Warranty Repair" and SportIdent UK do the same, that the customs charges will not apply.
