Orienteering Ireland are in the process of applying for grant funding for LIDAR under the Sports Capital Grant.

In order to do this, we need to identify areas due to be mapped over the next couple of years and obtain quotes for LIDAR from the relevant organisations.

If you have any areas in mind, can you please submit them to myself (mapping A-T orienteering DO-T ie) and Eric (info A- T orienteering D O-T ie) as soon as possible but before Sunday 13th August at the latest. Please include KML files if possible outlining the area(s) concerned, the intended use of the area (e.g. regional\national championship) and how progressed the plans are (e.g. landowner permission, parking availability, risk of felling etc.). I would also recommend you submit a Map Register Application at the same time to reserve the area for your club.

Eric and I will review the applications and include them in the grant application where feasible.

Please note that the grant application does not automatically mean that a grant will be awarded. However, if you do not request areas now, there is a risk that we will not be able to fund maps in the future.
