Hi,
As anyone who has read Ruairi Long\'s recent report on JWOC will know, having copies of the old map is quite important for preparation for major events. This year at WOC there are only very old or auto-generated maps available. The very old maps are really not the same mapping style and the auto-generated maps have 1m contour intervals
(old: https://woc2019.no/files/maps/previous/Bjoennaas.pdf , 1m interval: )
These are pretty useful to get a feeling for what the terrain shapes will be, but don\'t really give that good a feeling of how the map will actually look.
Norway recently made all the lidar data public (For example here\'s a link to the .laz files that cover the middle distance qualification area. https://leveranse.hoydedata.no/166468/b0abdf78-cf94-4af7-a93b-306e7e58601c/eksport_166468_20190730.zip , expires on 9th August)
Does anyone have any experience with generating maps from LIDAR data that could help make a 5m contour interval map of the areas? The Long/Relay/Middle Final area is bigger (~16GB)
Ruairi
