Hi Finn.

%0D%0A

I don't make any decisions, this is my perspective as an occasional club level orienteer.

The sport seems to be tipping along nicely with good attendances particularly at park/local events.

The senior squad seem dedicated and are further contributing to the sport via social media and mapping/events. The development people  (Anton, and Dave Healy) also have done good work. Although maybe not clear how this is measured.

It's not clear that significant extra participation would be a good thing for the sport as that brings potential problems in managing access and environmental impacts? Finding volunteers to map and organise events, and to run the sport generally, is an eternal challenge alright.

I didn't see the videos BTW, they require sign in.

Hi Rory,

%0D%0A

You shouldn't have to sign in for the videos, but that's what comes from late night links:

Look here: https://vimeo.com/finnvangelderen

They're all freely available there and open to viewing.

I will not get drawn on a discussion regarding volunteerism, FYI other members of the EXEC are paid, such as coaching and the secretary.  This is the dilemma all NGBs face.  PROs in most sports such as canoeing Ireland are paid for their expertise as junior affairs people should be.  I note that position on the executive is vacant.  As an aside the office of MHER (Mental Health and Engagement) in the HSE say that service users and family members should be like the GAA, volunteers for the greater good.  This undervalues them and deameans their contribution to mental health and well being.  I hope you can see the paralells, Orienteering is good for your mental health, one of my sentences many times in the press and on the radio was "In a busy world, Orienteering teaches my kids how to get home".  Like that it's now time to put a value on peoples contibutions, past and present.

Hi Rory,

%0D%0A

The links are all fine now, evdiently Vimeo has put in a protocol that to view their videos they need to be rated.  Everything has now been rated so that issue should no longer exist.

Best of luck,
