Is it the case that to enter our orienteering events you must be a member of a club? I know there are criteria to be eligible to win awards at championship events, that is not what I am asking about.

I just went to enter an event and it wouldn't accept me not choosing a club. There is no listing for 'None', or 'No Club'. I am currently between clubs as Ajax has shut up shop. I asked OI about the OI club and I was told it is no longer in operation. Despite that, OI is still listed in the list of clubs.

I'm betting that if someone just turns up an event and enters on the day then there is no question of refusing their entry simply because they aren't in a club, so why refuse people if they are entering online?? I wonder how many new people might have been put off by this?

I doubt if that is intentional, but you are right. I tried to enter without specifying a club and it wouldn't accept payment. When I put in a club, my entry went through.

Maybe a question for our Webmaster?

Do we have a Webmaster? I know Gavin was doing that job for a while, but my understanding is that he isn't doing it any more.

Can't seem to find any relevant details on the website. Can't even find the minutes of this year's AGM, nor a list of who's on the board of OI at the moment.

For better or for worse I'm still webmaster (all offers of help or takeover will be gratefully received).

I never tested that scenario - good spot Paul.

Will get it changed so you don't need to be in a club to enter (which would make no sense at all).

Thanks for the heads-up!

Gavan

In the meantime, if you are not in a club and this hasn't been fixed, just select "OI" for "Orienteering Ireland" as your club.
