Dear friends,

%0D%0A

we have been using Maprun with gay abandon in the SE. It allows us to put on regular events with small numbers of organisers and allows for a variable number of participants. There is  a longevity to planned courses as they can be completed at other times after the actual event too. We built up a number of urban maps during the covid pandemic as  there was time to map. Maprun allows us to use these maps with minimum of fuss. Thank you as always to Pat Healy for his base mapping skills. We have worked with  a number of sports partnerships to map urban  areas under the adventure sports urban initiative.

Sevo are delighted to offer you the following series of races on new maps (all within walking distance of railway stations)

October 10th Wexford town

October 17th Thurles town, County Tipperary

%0D%0A

November 28th Double race: Enniscorthy town and nearby Vinegar hill,  County  Wexford

With many urban areas it suits not to put out physical controls for security reasons. Whilst not everyones cup of tea, Maprun has its faithful followers (especially garmin watch users). It can  be used with an old phone too with no sim card by downloading course using wifi and then uploading afterwards...a great use for your last phone!

I hope you can make it to some of them.....

We will of course revert to the more traditional forest events with Kilbunny woods, Portlaw, Co.Waterford on the 7th November, Castlecomer, County Kilkenny on the 9th January and Forth mountain, County Wexford on the 10th April.

I wasn't able to make it to the Wexford event but I'd really like to see the map and the courses (and maybe even the results). Are they available anywhere?

Enter Wexford in the Name Filter box and then select the course from the popup list. Clicking Ok will give you the results for that course. There is a Track link for each competitor which opens RouteGadget and displays the track.

Thanks, Paul. I was expecting to see the results on the IOA results page.

It looks like a lot of fun - I always thought that Wexford would be a great place for an urban race (as well as New Ross, Galway, Ennis, Drogheda, Sligo, Cork, Dublin - in fact anywhere which started out as a medieval town and expanded randomly).

Good to know that the courses can be ran without a phone!

Presumably ye are still distributing paper maps. Will try to get to an event soon.
