The Fingal Orienteers event at Trim Heritage Town will take place this Sunday coming, December 12th.

Start times are from 11am to 1pm or so. Courses will close at 2.30pm.

The location for parking is the public carpark on Jonathan Swift Street, next to Aldi Supermarket. The location will be signed from the Roundabout at the junction of the R158 and the R160 on the south side of the town.

There are 4 courses.

Long 8.2km 25 controls

Medium 5.7km 17 controls

Short 2.7km 13 controls and

Adventure 1.5km 10 controls

Climb is minimal. Note that these distances are not direct line distances.

Entry is presently open on orienteering.ie and will close on Friday evening. Early entry would be appreciated for map production purposes. Maps will hopefully be on waterproof paper. All courses will pass through urban areas but some will venture into grass parkland areas that will have some lightly wooded areas. Running in shorts is possible.

NOTE HOWEVER THAT ALL COURSES WILL CROSS ROADS AND BRIDGES SO PLEASE TAKE CARE WHEN DOING SO AND USE PEDESTRAIN CROSSINGS, IF AVAILABLE. Please also, abide with the Covid restrictions and give plenty of space, and wear a mask in the parking and start areas. Sanitiser will be available.

The event is being run in support of the Autism Unit of St. Michael's National School, in Trim. There will be a collection bucket available. Any contributions would be gratefully appreciated for this good cause.

Finally, as this is our last event this year, all in the Fingal club wish all orienteers and their families a very happy Christmas and look forward to the annual 3ROC event on St. Stephen's Day at the Pine Forest.
