The entries system has some sort of bug. The category selection (Adult, Student etc) is blanked out/not available and hence no price shows.

Sprint into Spring

GEN would like to welcome everyone to our Sprint into Spring event.

We are very grateful to the management of both schools for allowing us to host and facilitate this event.

  • Please do not arrive at Wesley College before 12:30. This is a requirement of our agreement with the college.
  • Parking: Sufficient parking at both venues; please follow instructions from event helpers.
  • Strictly no dogs are allowed on the grounds of either school.
  • Respect for Residents: All competitors are reminded that there are residents living on-site; please be respectful of this fact. Private and out-of-bounds areas are mapped with olive green (520) or a purple out-of-bounds line (708).
  • Facilities: Toilets available at both venues.
  • Teas, coffees, and snacks will be available after the event in St. Columba’s.

  • Optimal Route Distance: Distances are measured by the best possible route, not a straight line.
  • Maps: A4 on Rite in the Rain paper. All courses (except the Adventure course in St. Columba’s) have multiple parts, but all are on the same side of the page.
  • Controls: Many controls in the terrain for both events; please check codes.
  • Terrain & Safety: The terrain will be busy; runners are asked to take care on blind corners and narrow passages.
  • Clothing & Footwear: St. Columba’s has a forest section; full leg cover is recommended but not mandatory. No metal studs.

Race 1: Wesley (Qualifier) – Start Procedure

  • Planner: Niall McCathy
  • Start Times: Open starts with a 1-minute start interval. First start is at 13:00, with the last start at 14:00.
  • Punching: This is a manual punching start. The start box will not be SIAC enabled; you must punch the start.
  • Course SIAC: All controls and the finish are SIAC enabled.
  • The Wesley event will use orange traffic cones as control stands; there will be no orienteering kites at these control sites. Competitors will see these cones in use for Check and Clear prior to the start.

Race 2: St. Columba’s (Final) – Start Procedure

  • Planner: Eoin Browne
  • Start Order: Determined by finishing position in Wesley. Results will be used to create seeded blocks for the Final.
  • Communication: There will be a temporary WhatsApp group for communicating the seeded start times. A QR code will be available at download in Wesley; scan this to receive the start lists.
  • Mini-Mass Starts: There will be mini-mass starts with 4 runners in each. The aim is to have the first mini-mass start at 15:30.
  • Forking: Courses are forked so that each competitor runs every leg, but in a different order.
  • Start Boxes: There will be two start boxes - both SIAC enabled. All controls and the finish are also SIAC enabled.
  • Map Distribution: Rolled-up maps and loose control descriptions are given in the -3 minute start box. You must not unroll or look at your map until your start time.

We intend having a short prize giving after the competition.

Hi all,

Results are now online.
Gaffles have been re-ordered so they all match to facilitate viewing of splits.
Happy St Patrick’s Day to all,

Jackie
