The first of three Phoenix Park Tuesday evening events is on Tuesday August 11th at the Papal Cross. The events will follow the same format as in recent years - three courses of about 2, 4 and 6 km. Pre-entry for the three events is open until the Sunday evening before each event here. There will be entry on the day as well, up to the limit of printed maps.
The events are aimed mainly at introducing orienteering to newcomers.
Start times are 6 to 7 pm. There is a Dublin Bus service (Route 99) from Heuston Station to the Phoenix Park Visitor Centre every 30 minutes which will bring you close to the start. The new N2 service between Clontarf DART station and Heuston Station travels along Blackhorse Avenue on the north east side of the Park. There are new toilets at the Papal Cross car park but they may not be in service in time.
The following Tuesday, August 18th, the event will be on the Military Road, near the Magazine Fort, inside the Islandbridge gate.
The final event, on Tuesday August 25th, will be inside the Furry Glen/Knockmaroon gate.
