Entries are open for the 3ROC Leinster League event on Sunday 7th April at Devil's Glen/Tiglin. Online entries close on Thursday 4th April.

Please pre-enter if possible - and avail of the early-bird entry fees; there will be entry on the day at a higher rate.

The area was used for the Irish Championships long race last May and is an undulating forested plateau with a good network of paths and tracks and with a steeper, rocky forested slope on the east side with few line features. The forest has many small rides or extraction lines on the map, many of which are not as visible in reality.

There is forestry work going on at the moment but this should not have a big impact on courses as long as it doesn't spread further. The parking field we had hoped to use is too wet so we will be parking on the forest roads - please park as instructed. The flatter parts of forest are wet underfoot and some of small paths are under a few cm of water.

Competitors are advised to bring a whistle in case of emergency. We expect to have toilets at assembly. The start is about 600 metres from registration, through quite rough, recently thinned forest, so allow 15-20 minutes to walk there.

The map is 1:10000 scale with 5 metre contours and will be printed on A4 "Rite in the Rain" waterproof paper. SportIdent timing will be in use and whether contactless lunching will be available will be advised closer to the event.

Brown, Blue, Green and Short Green are technically difficult. Beginners are advised to start with the easier courses.

Indicative course details (length and climb to be confirmed):

Brown 7.4 km/175m climb

Blue 5.5 km/165m

Green 3.8 km/110m

Short Green 2.5 km/95m

Light Green 3.6 km/60m

Red 3.3 km/60m

Orange 2.6 km/30m

Yellow 2.1 km/30m

The Brown, Blue and Green courses will use the steep rocky forest on the east-facing slope.

Location map here.

This information may me updated from time to time so remember to check back occasionally.

We look forward to seeing you there!

"Contactless lunching" sounds like a great and very wholesome initiative!

Maybe we should have introduced it during Covid!

A reminder that online entries for the Leinster League event at Devil’s Glen/Tiglin on Sunday 8th April close on Thursday, so get the early-bird entry fees and help the organisers by entering online.

If you are signing up for the beginners free orienteering training that morning, you need to register for that separately via Eventbrite or by e-mailing markstephens@orienteering.ie.
