Hope you had a nice day, and thanks to all the people who helped out over the last few days to make it happen. Big turnout of almost 150 distinct people, so we were kept busy, even with pre-entries.

If anyone has any comments about the courses, I'm a fan of feedback. Post it here, I have thick skin. Put your routes up on routegadget, be good to see how you did, and where you went.

Thanks Dave. I thought it was very enjoyable. Managed to mess up the same two areas I mess up every time I run there! Particularly liked being able to start early. I personally would like to see more events starting earlier.

I thought the courses made good use of the area, and I didn't feel I was running through jungle, apart from when I made a poor decision and that was entirely my own fault.

Dave/Hugh/Pat & all the other CNOC folk,

Thanks a million for getting us back into another beautiful autumnal forest. I really enjoyed the course - I've never seen 3 possible route choices from the finish control....!
Good to see a Red course almost entirely on paths & the Yellow & Orange looked really good.

I found the map hard to read - comparing the jpg file from 2018 to yesterday's the greens look darker & the line features lighter?

Most of my fellow competitors just sniggered at me & said the problem was me, not the map.... what did anyone else think?

Having been involved in Bray a few weeks back I know it's not easy to get it right. It may be the paper in which case someone might like to add to an old thread on https://www.orienteering.ie/forums/?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&t=228

I'd love if the people who know these things would enlighten us!

Thanks again for a great day out.

I found some of the rock detail hard to read but I didn't have a problem on the day with the greens and blacks. Looking at three different versions of the map now though, the differences are quite striking. Are the colurs on the current version correct as per the current spec?

On the rock detail, I feel that the stony ground screen adds nothing to the map, and in fact makes it harder to read. The complex sections of crags are definitely hard for me to read clearly. Almost certainly, partly my terrible eyesight, but I also find myself wondering if the map is slightly reduced, or if there is some other scaling issue at play since I don't usually have as much difficulty distinguishing the rock details. Then again, it's probably just me.
