Courses have a mixture of open moorland and plantation forest.
The open moorland is well grazed by sheep and is quite fast.
The braken areas in the moorland are marked as vegetation-walk-with-good-visibility.
The forest has been totally remapped in the past few weeks due to extensive thinning over the past few years.
The runable-in-one-direction areas have a lot of brashings in the extraction rides. Extraction rides have been marked individually only where they are neither parallel nor evenly spaced.
The small clearings/rough-open areas in the forest are mostly covered in braken at this time of year.
Some large areas of forest are marked with broken ground (brown dots). There is very good visibility in these areas but running speed is equivalent to slow run due to uneven ground.
All fences can be crossed but 2 specific crossing points have been marked between the moorland and forest where they are easiest to cross. These are to facilitate less agile competitors.
There are deer in the forest so please check for ticks afterwards.
