My understanding is that no obligation exists as to the organisers of the IOC weekend to provide all of the potential championship competitions. The decision not to stage the Middle Distance Championships was due to the lack of a suitable technical area, and my understanding is that the IOA Fixtures Officer has mentioned this to the clubs who are staging the regional championships and the Shamrock O Ringen next year with the expectation that one of them might include the Middle Distance Championships in their event.

As I understand it the agreement between the IOA and the NIOA is that the IOC organising club must stage three events:

Day 1- Either middle or sprint
Day 2 - Classic
Day 3 - Relay

It is up to the organising club to choose whether to run the sprint or the middle on day 1. Whichever event is not chosen is then available to be staged alongside one of the regional championships. So it looks like LVO have chosen sprint for day 1.

Have I missed something? Why is there no Middle distance included in IOC2015?
