Dear orienteers,

Many thanks to those who have signed up to orienteering training camp in Glendalough. We were delighted with the response; unfortunatley we weren\'t able to accommodate everyone who wanted to come and had to stick to the deadline for entries.  Hopefully next time!

Just to clarify, the training days given on the fixtures list are only open to participants who have signed up for the training weekend.

Best regards,
Créidhe, GEN secretary

Hi David and Team, we only made it for a few hours on Saturday due work and school commitments respectively, but this was nothing short of brilliant.
Thank you to everyone involved for the immense team effort, all the work behind the scenes, getting the technical \"pitch\" balanced for such a wide audience, the can-do / good spirits and the remarkable weather
Best regards
John & Cuan

Echoing John R\'s comments. I did very little other than facilitate the hard work put in by Brenda & David H (mostly) with huge background input from Mary H, many thanks to those 3 in particular. Also thanks to so many who helped out in various ways - Pat\'s input on the map, group leaders (many of whom gave up their own weekend), control putter-outers & collectors, the armies of people slaving in the hot kitchen, our inspirational talk & workshop-givers, Debbie who got so much O-collateral for the hostel reception, impromptu SI officials, night-O mappers/planners/organisers, the IOA for their support and plenty of others I\'m forgetting in the aftermath!
I was particularly pleased with the amount of newcomers that joined us - I hope they found it useful and welcoming. I look forward to seeing them at other events.

I have to finally comment on David\'s vision. None of us thought that 120 orienteers would be keen on running around Glendalough in the middle of January, apart from him! We\'ve a great sport and great community. Hopefully other clubs might consider similar in the future.
We\'d love to hear any reports, comments, photos, thoughts - please share here, by email to gen@orienteering.ie or on Facebook/Twitter or any of orienteering-related social media!
