Hi folks,

just a couple of quick points regarding the GEN Leinster League Event on Brockagh/Mall hill this coming Sunday

  • The most important one is that the weather doesn't look like its going to be great so people are asked to bring whistles and rain gear and spare clothes and plan for the weather.
  • Access to the event will be at the forest entrance at car park above the Brockagh Resource center and the event assembly area and parking will be 6K further on along Coillte roads.
  • Coillte have requested that we control access to the forest so we will will have a marshal at the forest entrance between 10.30AM and 1PM
  • After that we plan to place a temporary red warning tape barrier across the entrance (hopefully it will survive!) and we ask people to take it down and replace as they're driving out of the gate.
  • Refreshments will be provided but people are asked to bring their own cups if possible.

Hi Martin,

Was hoping to attend in Brockagh, tomorrow, but the website details have changed since last night.  Last night they said I could pay on the day, but now I read it's prepay only, with no payments on the day.  Was I aware of the cutoff times, I would have booked last night.

This is my first time with orienteering was invited by a colleague in work.  Even went out and bought a compass today, and was looking forward to revisiting map work from my sea scout days.

I'll reach out to you by email now, in case you don't see this in time.

  Thanks,

Derek

@derek Sorry that this didn't work out for you this time. The weather conditions made this a very difficult event and it wouldn't have been the best one to start Orienteering. But we hope that you will try again.

Brockagh Results..............The results are up and thanks to all the hardy souls who braved the elements today.

The first version of the results had to be removed to be edited, so sorry to those who were first to upload their routes. Please do so again.

Thanks for the event, enjoyed it!

One comment...

On Blue, the number for control 8 completely hides a rather large, obvious rock feature, which was very confusing when I could not identify it on the map. Fortunately, in this case, as I was close to the control I was able to find it anyway, but it could easily have gone the other way, especially given the weather.

Thanks to all the GEN crew for a challenging event - it was a tough day to be organising but really enjoyed it.
