Hi All,
The terrain is a mixture of exposed open moorland surrounding Kilworth (Liam Lynch) Army Camp and Ranges interspersed with networks of earth banks, gullies and depressions along with areas of sheep cropped pasture land. The runnability varies from average to very good but is somewhat dependent on how wet the land is.
A new map has been drawn this year for the event allowing athletes on the Brown and Blue courses to select to run with a 1:15,000 or 1:10,000 scale. All other courses will have 1:10,000. In order to have a 1:15,000 map please contact – joshosullivanhourihan@gmail.com – by 10th December otherwise we will assume you want 1:10,000.

START INFORMATION
Mass Start (Brown / Blue / Green / Light Green / Red) – 11:30am
Punching Start (Orange & Yellow) – 11:30-12:30
There will be a mass start at 11:30 for everyone on the Brown, Blue, Green, Light Green and Red courses. These courses all use forkings, example shown below, to split up runners. On the start line there will be 5 rows – (1) Brown, (2) Blue, (3) Green, (4) Light Green and (5) Red. It is a timed start and there is a taped route to the start control of ~110m. You must pass the start control.
The Orange and Yellow courses will both have a normal punching start. These courses aren't buggy friendly due to some fence crossings. There are a number of mandatory road crossings used on all courses. These are marked on the map using symbol 710. The course line goes through each crossing point and they also appear on the control descriptions. They will all be clearly marked in the terrain with red and white tape. Please take care when crossing as some have stiles and others are just wire fences. Control descriptions will be printed on the map and due to the forkings no loose descriptions will be available.
DIRECTIONS
The event will be signposted from Kilworth Military Camp on the R639. If travelling from the South take the M8 exit at junction 14 and follow signs (R639) Kilworth and Lynch Army Camp. If travelling from the North take the M8 exit at junction 13 and follow sgns for Kilworth and Lynch Army Camp (R639). Parking is in the Range area next to the Feeding Shed.
NOTES
Kilworth Ranges in mid-December can be very exposed with changeable weather. The organisers may insist on wearing rain jacket/cagoule and headwear. Whistles are mandatory. Be prepared for all weather conditions.
The event takes place on an active military training facility. Along with all the normal safety precautions extra care is necessary in this area. If during your run you encounter any suspicious item please do not pick it up. Report the details back to the registration and it will be dealt with appropriately.
