3ROC have been using Aqualaser paper from the UK (made in Germany, I think) for a few years and it is very tough paper although the ink can tend to flake off when it is folded repeatedly or if it is abraded. The most recent event we ran used A4 "Rite in the Rain" paper which we got from Poland and Reads printed the maps on a laser printer. (Reads Dublin city centre branch recently moved from Nassau St to Middle Abbey St).

The paper has been made in the USA since 1913 so it has a good track record. It's only 75 grams per Square metre so it's lighter than normal "paper" paper but it seems to retain the ink well when it is folded. It comes in a pack of 200 sheets. Postage from Poland is free if you buy more than €75 worth, equivalent to 2 and a bit packs at about €37 for 200 sheets (realistically three packs = €111, or 18.5c per page). It came in the post in a few days from www.specshop.pl. See here.

The days when control descriptions need to be printed in black and white only are long gone
Don\'t agree Paul, these are international specifications and I doubt there are colour printers availabe to all and sundry all over the world. This would be a radical change to the proposals so won\'t even be considered this time around. Agree there is confusion possibilities with my suggestion for out of bounds area symbol but it wouldn\'t be alone in that! So, alternatively instead of Square it could be circle with 3 horizontal lines.
I am broadly in favour of the changes although after three decades with the existing symbols it will probably take me another decade to get used to the new ones.
I agree with Angus that the \'Out of Bounds area\' symbol is ridiculous.
I have a suggestion for the IOF if you WAnt to provide feedback - Colour control descriptions. The days when control descriptions need to be printed in black and white only are long gone and there is no reason why we cannot have a black dot for a boulder and a brown dot for a knoll on the control descriptions. There aren\'t radical changes. More detail on clarity, some new symbols and some changes, mainly minor.

However, as this WAs the only significant change I plan to avoid altering the results any further.
