IOF Transgender Survey
In November 2021, the IOC published the IOC Framework on Fairness, Inclusion and Non-Discrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity and Sex Variations.
This requires IOF to review the IOF Transgender Policy. The IOF Council decided this summer to start this process and has appointed a working group with expertise in this area.
The IOF is now consulting on a new Transgender Policy though a short survey. This survey is Phase 1, and will be used to inform the drafting of a new policy. We would be grateful if you would complete the following survey: https://forms.office.com/r/ALfHA8cL1A.
The survey is an open survey, and it is both possible to respond as an individual and on behalf of a group (i.e. a Federation).
Deadline: October 31, 2022.
Orienteer like it is 1971 !
Bishopstown Orienteering Club will be holding a commemorative event in Thomastown wood, Kilfinane, Co Limerick on Monday 31st October 2022. It was hoped to have held it last year to mark the 50th anniversary of the first ever Orienteering event in this area. Unfortunately due to the pandemic restrictions last year it was not possible to hold the event as intended
The original event was Organised and planned by Willie Cunningham for the Kilfinane Development Association. Earlier this year Willie Cunningham passed away. Before he did he shared some old documents from those early years.
In memory of Willie and to mark that original occasion BOC will hold a once off event.
Details on entry, courses etc are at the link below. The event is free of charge, but you should pre-enter.
In the meantime have a look at some of those shared documents – you may even recognise some names. Irish Orienteering History

Social Media Workshop for Orienteering Clubs.
In today’s world it is very important that clubs use social media to advertise and promote their orienteering activities.
For this purpose Orienteering Ireland is running a 1.5 hour social media workshop on:
Thursday 27th October 7:30pm – 9pm.
Mark Stephens will look at social media talk, covering posts, stories, reels, when best to use each feature, and their differences.
The workshop will also look at Canva, and how to put text together with images.
Clubs attending should have set up an Instagram account and Facebook page beforehand.
Ideally each club will have a minimum of one person attending, who will be happy to take on the role of the club’s social media accounts.
The registration form below gives you the opportunity to ask questions in advance of the workshop.
