St Catherine’s Park

3ROC are pleased to bring orienteering to a new area in west Dublin. The park is between Lucan and Leixlip, on the Dublin/Kildare border, with the entrance for cars on the L3005 road, about 1 km north west of Lucan Village..

Pedestrians can also enter the park on the south side of the River Liffey near Lucan Village and walk through the competition area to assembly.

Buses: Several buses from Dublin serve Lucan. Bus Stop No. 3887 – Leixlip Rd, Ardeevin Avenue. Routes serving this stop are 25 Towards Lucan (Dodsboro), 66 Towards Maynooth, 66a Towards Leixlip (Captain’s Hill), 66b Towards Leixlip (Castletown), 67 Towards Maynooth.

Trains: The Dublin Connolly to Maynooth service stops at Leixlip Confey which is about 1 km from the start area.

By car: From Lucan Village, cross the bridge and continue straight on up the hill, following signs for the M3, Airport and Clonee. About 400 metres past the second roundabout, turn left onto a narrow road leading to the park. The junction with this road is at:

This is the culmination of much work by IOA Mapping Registrars, Brian Power and Chris Slattery.

There had been no IOA Map Register for at least 10 years for a variety of reasons.

Each club who registered maps has been sent information in the past 6 months, if you have any questions please email mapping  at orienteering  ie. Although the position of Mapping Officer is currently vacant, Harold White – Controller of Technical Standards is acting Mapping Officer.
