DUO and UCDO are organising the second Leinster League event of the year in Pine Forest this Sunday 11th Feb

Prices:

€8 Adult
€5 Student/Child/OAP
€20 Family

€2 SI-card rental

Diections and Parking:

Parking for the event will be at the Cruagh Wood car park: see map here

Please note that the road from Ballyboden to Rockbrook (R116) is closed just south (uphill) of the Merry Ploughboy pub so you can’t come this way to the event.

Instead, from Ballyboden, either:

take the R115 past Hellfire Wood as far as the Killakee viewing point and take a left along Cruagh Road (L8124) to the forest, or

take the R115 towards Hellfire Wood but go left onto Mount Venus Road (L4026), over to Rockbrook and then turn right on the R116 to the forest, or

take the Tibradden Road (L4027) from near the SW corner of Marlay Park, and turn left onto the R116 at the hairpin bend south of the Merry Ploughboy pub, and continue uphill to the forest.

The closest Dublin Bus service is the 15B from Barrow Street, Ringsend as far as Stocking Avenue (Stop 6341). The 15B runs every 30 minutes on Sundays. You still have a walk of about 5 km from the bus to the forest.

Details of the Edmondstown Road closure are here:

http://www.sdublincoco.ie/index.aspx?pageid=939&pid=38187&type=Public%20Notices&q=&from=15-05-2017&to=15-11-2017&p=1

and here is the reason it was closed:

(The road closure will only affect you if you are coming from the M50 or the city; if you’re coming from the Kilternan/ Glencullen direction, or from the Sally Gap/Glencree direction, then the road closure won’t affect you)

Many thanks to 3ROC for the use of the map and to AJAX, GEN and 3ROC for the loan in equipment

I'm landing in Dublin airport at 10am on Sunday and was wondering if there was anyone traveling from that side of town who could possibly give me a lift to this event? My current solution is Don driving quite far out of his way which isn't ideal.

Thank you to everyone who braved the cold and came to our event today! Apologies to anyone on brown, blue and green who was affected by the mix up in control codes 49/52.

The results have been uploaded, sorry we had no split print outs! Several people did not punch the start control and as a result have a very long finishing time. We will try to figure out from the clear/check boxes roughly what time you started at and alter the results accordingly. Routegadget will also be available soon.

Thanks again to AJAX, GEN and 3ROC for equipment. Hopefully today was the first of many successful DUO/UCDO collaborations!

Great team effort by everyone to make today happen. Well done all.
Challenging but fulfilling courses in a deceptively rough place overlooking the city.
Thanks to whoever found my SI and handed it in.

The start times for the half-dozen or so people who forgot to punch the start (!) have been updated. This means that instead of being credited with starting at the base time of 11.00 am, their adjusted start time is now 2 minutes after they punched the "Check" box. This is as close as we can get to establishing their actual start time.
Please rememeber to punch the start box in future. And a reminder to organisers to clear the memory of (at least) the clear, check and start boxes before every event. It's probably best to clear the memory of every SI box - it only takes a few seconds - and to synchronise the times, particularly in spring and autumn when the clocks change.
Thanks to Ajax for checking the SI units after the event to get this information.

Really enjoyable run today - many thanks to UCDO/DUO. The light dusting of snow added atmosphere! As John R has alluded you may think it to be a local (easy?) forest but the Pine Forest can be physically tough. Great to see so many try out the Red, great to see so many new names running for Ajax!

I was almost one of the start victims (of my own stupidity!)... the maps were before the start punch. While unusual (?) it was only eejits like me that were (nearly) caught out... I also reckon if Aoife McC had run the Brown her extrapolated per-minute times would have put her about 20 seconds behind Colm H on the Brown (5th).... wow!

Thanks again...

Well done to all at DUO and UCDO for an excellent event yesterday. The organisation and planning was flawless and the Brown was thoroughly enjoyable (and runnable for the most part!). You certainly got the best out of the forest and the decision to minimise open mountain was a good one considering the conditions!

Yes, great to have the student clubs running a league event again, well done. The Blue course was well planned too, not too much road running and only one control out on Cruagh Mtn. I hate plowing through that heather.

The Ór results and Routegadget files loaded earlier today needed to be corrected for two switched control codes on the Brown, Blue and Green courses. A side-effect of this is that the results in RG show the Brown, Blue and Green runners as DNF, which is mostly not the case. JMcC
