The last Leinster League event will be in Trooperstown on Sunday.

We have access to some very nice parts of the map that have not being used in a few years.

The course details will be posted here in a few days time.

Please note that starts will only operate from 11 until 12.30 to facilitate the Leinster Leage prizegiving, so come early and bring warm clothing.

Event is at https://goo.gl/maps/SEHQ4ipZSxo

When you turn off the R755, leave the Mountain Rescue building on your left and continue down a rough road until you get to the car park. The Trooperstown event on Sunday will new the new ISOM 2017 Map Symbols, two documents below will explain what that means.

An explanation is at the link below;

Hi folks,
We are watching the weather for Sunday, the snow currently forecast would make travelling to the event quite difficult.
The organisers will continue to monitor the forecast - not all models are showing the same accumulations being forecast by Met Eireann. We'll know a lot more by tomorrow.

Please check back here for updates in relation to the Trooperstown event
Thanks,
Eoin

=================================
UPDATE (Saturday 9th Dec, 1pm). At present the Trooperstown event is going ahead, controls are being put out. The snow forecast will not affect course safety which are mostly in the forest.

The only risk is of the roads to Trooperstown being impassable. Wicklow County Council advise that they have snow ploughs to clear the main roads but we will know better in the morning.

GEN will update the GEN website (http://www.genorienteeringclub.com) tomorrow morning (Sunday) by 9:15am advising or road viability (Kilmacanogue -> Laragh).

PLEASE CHECK TOMORROW MORNING.

8.45 Sunday.  Unfortunately the weather has gotten the better of us and we have have had to postpone the Trooperstown event until further notice. The forest would lovely in the snow but the road from Kilmacanogue to Roundwood isn't in great condition.  We hope to reschedule soon.

Thanks to Eoin B & Pat H (amongst others) for the incredible hard work in putting on Trooperstown. I'd say it's about 20 years since I've run in the woods to the NE of the car park and they're as beautiful as I remember them - huge beech and oak trees with perfect runnability!
Only looking at routegadget now and seeing the other route choices that I missed on the day - crossing into and out of that little used area in particular was controversial!

Many thanks,
