We hope you all enjoyed your runs. Congratulations to all the prizewinners.

Please take a moment to draw in your route on Routegedget, for the benefit of other competitors and course planners. There is a very brief review of the event on http://www.3roc.net.

Great event John, well done to the whole team - you could see the attention to detail shining through. The tunnel was a stroke of genius.

My lungs still hurt.

Entries were by class but results are by course - is that a sprint-O thing?

The results are as they came out of Ór, so it's not a sprint-O thing. Did we miss something in Ór that would allow the results to be sorted by class? We tried sorting results by class before the prizegiving but got a warning that the results might be compromised because, for example, several people ran in a different age class to their correct one (e.g. an M35 running in M21).

A Competition can be configured to produce events by Course or by Class.  This should be selected when initially creating the competition as it is a fundemental characteristic.  It is, however, possible to change this later.  If you do this, you will get a warning to indicate that you must make sure that each Competitor has a valid Class and each Class is on the correct course.

You will need to do the following:
1. Edit the Competition and set the results to Class.
2. Edit the Class list.  Delete any invalid/duplicate classes.  Make sure that all the classes you are using are associated with the correct course.  If not, edit the Class.
3. Go through the Entries list.  Make sure that everyone has a Course filled in.  If not, the Class is incorrect and you must fix this.  Double check that everyone has the correct Class.
4. Check the results tab and make sure everything looks OK.

When you setup a new event in Ór, the Edit Competition screen asks you whether the results are by Class or by Course. By Class is for championship events and By Course is for all other types of event that we have in Ireland.

Usually in a championship event all competitors who run up a class, for example a W45 who runs W21E, are classified in the class they run up to, so you never see the same class on more than one course.

But in your case you had the same class on many courses. It looks like Martin was way ahead of us by anticipating that this could cause a results problem if an event was changed from by Course to by Class once it had started.

So I suppose the lesson is that championship events should always be setup in advance as By Class because it’s dangerous to change this setting in flight.

But this is trivial stuff – it’s easy to see who won each class from the published results.

Well done 3ROC, great event.

The results are now published by class rather than by course here. Thanks.
