I saw photo of this recently - it's a Russian system like SportIdent but consierably cheaper. has anyone seen it in action? The control boxes are €59 and the cards are about €5 and it looks like the user can replace the battery in the control box. Evidently it has been approved by the IOF for foot orienteering. The European distributor is in Finland.

This video,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kN3MqZlu278&feature=youtu.be

from their site, shows the system in action. I think this video presents orienteering really well by the way. I'm wondering though, do you actually have to press the "button" on the control or do you just need to touch off it in order to bring your finger close enough for the box to write on the card. It's not really clear. The tech. info on the site makes mention of a 5cm read distance and the "button" just looks like a recessed area rather than an actual button. Anyone know?
